About Ryzaape
Every wood grain carries a small story, and Ryzaape exists to bring those stories into daily life through handmade wooden bookshelves that feel natural in the home. We believe furniture is functional art—useful first, honest in its materials, and quietly inspiring over years of use. That is our simple promise: real wood, real craft, real life.
Who We Are
Ryzaape works on a Direct-to-Customer (D2C) path so each piece moves from our workshop straight to you. That choice keeps quality in our hands, pricing transparent, and conversations personal. A small team—designers beside woodworkers, QC beside customer care—shares the same bench and the same calendar, so a shelf can move from first sketch to final finish without losing its character. We use CNC precision where accuracy matters, then slow down for what hands do best: shaping edges, matching grain, and tightening joinery. Questions are answered within 24 hours, and even a standard model is treated like a one-off: planned, built, checked, and packed with a name on it—yours.
What We Make
Our focus is handcrafted bookshelves, with the Tree Bookshelf as a signature line, alongside selected wall-mounted and sculptural designs. You can choose ready-to-ship pieces for fast delivery, or go made-to-order when the space asks for specific dimensions, profiles, carvings, or finishes. We work with kiln-dried hardwoods—oak, walnut, ash, maple, and characterful driftwood—sourced with clear traceability from reputable U.S. suppliers like Weyerhaeuser, Baillie Lumber, Rex Lumber, Baird Brothers, and Bell Forest. Surfaces are finished with low-VOC, indoor-safe oils or varnishes so the wood stays warm to the touch and easy to live with.
Each piece ships with a plain-spoken guide covering recommended load, shelf spacing, and safe wall anchoring when needed. The structure is engineered with CNC-cut joinery for strength, while the feel comes from hand sanding through fine grits and carefully rubbed finishes. In the end, the shelf should do two things well: carry weight without fuss and anchor a room without noise—a quiet object that earns its place every day.
Materials & Sustainability
We start with solid hardwoods like oak, walnut, ash, and maple. The wood is carefully dried so it stays steady through the seasons. We buy from trusted U.S. suppliers—Weyerhaeuser, Baillie Lumber, Rex Lumber, Baird Brothers, and Bell Forest—and we check every board for look and strength before it goes into a shelf. If a piece isn’t right, we turn it into small parts or samples instead of throwing it away.
Surfaces are finished with low-odor, indoor-safe oils or varnishes—often plant-based—so the wood keeps its natural feel and is comfortable in homes with children and pets. We use safe wood glue for all joints. Our rule for the planet is simple: make things that last. Long-lasting shelves mean fewer replacements and less waste. Offcuts become brackets, sample swatches, or packing spacers, and we choose hardware that can be repaired or replaced easily.
How We Build
Every shelf begins with picking the right boards. We check how dry they are, how the grain flows, and how strong they feel. The faces are flattened, pieces are cut to size, and precise machines handle cuts that must be exact. Then we slow down for the human part—shaping edges, fitting joints, and matching the wood pattern so lines look clean and continuous. Parts are sanded smooth, then we apply thin coats of finish and let them dry fully.
When the finish is ready, we assemble, fine-tune the fit, and test the shelf so it holds what it should without fuss. Before packing, we do one more calm check of the surface, the joints, and the hardware—so when you open the box, the first thing you notice is the wood, not a flaw.
Packaging & Shipping
Packing is part of the craft. Panels and corners get foam and corner guards. Hardware is sealed and labeled to match a clear, step-by-step guide. Boxes are strong and reinforced for long trips; big pieces get extra protection when needed. We ship with UPS, FedEx, and DHL (depending on your area) and share tracking from pickup to doorstep.
You’ll also get a short receiving guide: look over the box, take photos if anything seems off, and tell us right away so we can help. Opening the box should feel simple—parts labeled, steps easy—and the shelf should be ready to use the same day.
Care & Support
Daily care is easy: dust with a dry or lightly damp cloth, keep the shelf away from strong heat and long-term damp, and use floor pads for stability and to protect your floor. Wood likes steady room conditions. For wall shelves, fix them securely using the right anchors; if you’re unsure, ask us and we’ll guide you.
If the finish ever looks a bit dull, a quick touch-up oil brings back the glow. We can send a care kit with the same finish we use in the shop. Our team replies within 24 hours on business days. And our promise is clear: if a problem is on us—or happened during shipping—we will repair, replace, or refund. Good furniture should be easy to own, and we keep it that way with plain guidance, serviceable parts, and support that actually picks up.
Our Promise
We don’t chase volume. We chase fit—a shelf that suits your room and your routines so well it feels inevitable once it’s there. If you’d like, we can share finish samples or a quick 2D/3D sketch before we build. When your piece finally takes its place at home, it won’t just hold books; it will hold habits, photos, and a quiet sense of order. That’s the kind of functional art Ryzaape is here to make.
